Lo scorso 26 Aprile, in quello che ho personalmente rinominato Funky Friday, esce ‘Teamwork’, l’ultimo progetto della Funk Unit di Nils Landgren. Dopo ‘Funk For Life’ (2010), ‘Licence To Funk’ (2007), ‘Funky ABBA’ (2004), ‘Fonk Da World’ (2001) e il mitico ‘Paint It Blue’ (1996), il trombettista svedese  richiama a sé una unit d’altissimo livello, per far “pompare nelle casse” un po’ di quel funk jazz esplosivo che ha tanto segnato il cammino del Red Horn svedese (concedendosi anche dei progetti molto diversi tra loro), tanto da produrre per ACT i giovani Mo’ Blow, eredi legittimi della Funk Unit.

Nils Landgren (trombone & vocals), Magnum Coltrane Price (bass & vocals), Magnus Lindgren (woodwinds & vocals), Jonas Wall (woodwinds & vocals) Sebastian Studnitzky (keyboards & trumpet), Andy Pfeiler (guitar & vocals), Robert Ikiz (drums) sono la Funk Unit che la stessa ACT (invero non particolarmente avvezza alle sonorità funky, accezzion fatta per la Funk Unit e i Mo’Blow, appunto) definisce così: “this might well be the best Funk Unit that Nils Landgren has had gathered around him since 2010: technically outstanding, this is a group of team players who combine well with a great groove connection”.
